What Makes Me Happy?

Saw this ad in the newspaper today.

After seeing the prices (a cool million pesos [just a bit north of $20,000] downpayment and a monthly amortization of 100,000 pesos [roughly $2,000] for a period that wasn't even specified), now I'm sure I can't afford a Porsche. I don't just feel it. I know it.

Will a Porsche make me happy? I've driven one just once in my life -- my brother-in-law's Boxster during the 2007 visit to their home in California. Just sitting in it made my nape hair stand, and driving it by my lonesome even at legal freeway speeds, with the engine loudly roaring from my back, was an experience that bordered on...transcendental. I was powerful. I was the man. Yes, it brought a wide grin to my face.

That was a fleeting happiness, though.

On to far simpler and less costly pleasures. I watched several episodes of Soul Eater last night, and was amazed at the fight scene between Tsubaki and her older brother, the Demon Blade. The animation has been erratic for the series so far, but episode 11 and the duel between the siblings was superb.

Now that made me really happy. And watching it was all free.

I know Porsche will not make me happy too. But a Range Rover will. :-)
