Indulgence

When I need to treat myself to something really sinful (in a wholesome way, of course), Ben and Jerry's chocolate ice cream ranks high in my pleasure list. Oh yes, it's expensive (260+ for a pint if I remember correctly, and I've seen it sold only at S&R) but you get loads and loads of goodies with every scoop. And the richness is at another level altogether. I've tried Haagen Dazs once in Subic. I know taste is subjective, but B&J's is much better than that famous premium brand.

Is Ben and Jerry's good value? Perhaps not. At the price, you could get half a gallon of Selecta or Arce. The best way to justify purchasing Ben and Jerry's once in a while is indulgence. If you eat fastfood or carenderia/cafeteria chow often, it's good for the senses to visit a good fine dining restaurant at times to know how food is cooked with real care. The jeepney, bus or even Japanese and Korean econoboxes would get you from point A to B, but you wouldn't pass up being transported in a luxo German sedan or an Italian supercar, given the chance.

i've tasted ben & jerry's and i love it! its really pricey, though. you're right about trying out the fine dinning scene. it's just the same, once you're had one. the palate will definitely crave for something more tasteful, the senses will be seeking to be thrilled...
